GATEHOUSE

What is Gatehouse?

Because God loves us, we are called to extend that love to others.

One way we do this is through our Gatehouse initiative, serving as first responders to the social, physical, and emotional needs of our community. Our mission is to prevent and alleviate isolation and marginalization in the BCP area and beyond.

We have a safe, fun space for tots to play, giving their adults an opportunity for socialising and seeking advice and support from one another. We want to foster a strong sense of community whilst enjoying coffee and a slice of cake!

Gatehouse Tots runs every Thursday,

10:00-11.30am (term time only) at our Alder Road site.

Contact the church office for more information.

They run alongside our other Gatehouse activities, so there is always a happy mix of community and intergenerational interaction. They run on Thursdays, 10:30am-12:30pm at 502 Ashley Road. TRUTH BE TOLD

Truth Be Told (TBT) is a project that brings joy and life into residential care homes for the benefit of 0-4s, their parents/carers and residents. This set of storytelling sessions for intergenerational groups puts a short tale of hope at the centre of some songs, a treasure trove of props and a multitude of imaginative interactions, then a reminder that 'I am loved' or 'I am special' or 'I am safe' relating to the theme of the story. With a cup of tea and treats afterwards, there is time to chat, play, build relationships and community together. TBT has had remarkable success at engaging and benefiting people of all ages. It is launching new local groups and encouraging other churches across the country to do the same. If you are interested in starting or joining a group, please contact Gemma:

Our Gatehouse Community Hub runs at our 502 Ashley Road site on Thursday and Friday mornings,

10am-1pm (term time only). They are warm, friendly spaces where everybody is made welcome. We have groups and activities running such as Golden Generations, arts and crafts, board games, jigsaws, work spaces, a toddler area and the 'I AM Confident' sessions. We also have volunteers on hand to talk or pray with guests and we are able to direct those in need to outside agencies, where they can seek further help.

We love to celebrate special occasions such as 'big' birthdays, Christmas and Easter. During last summer we took our Golden Generations on a garden visit and enjoyed lunch together. There is always something going on, so come along and join us. Hot drinks and a range of delicious cakes are available at no charge.
